A local company started collecting for victims of Hurricane Sandy even before the rain stopped falling.
Spencer Spirit Holdings asked for donations throughout their stores and the company matched those donations. Tuesday, the company gave more than $43,000 to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.
"We really felt like the red cross are the guys on the ground, the money could go directly to those that needed it the most and you can see the work their doing. We see evidence of it all over," said Steven Silverstein, President and CEO of Spencer Spirit Holdings.
Spencer's says that almost 200 of its stores were affected by Sandy.
