Many home owners who said they would stay in their storm
ravaged homes following Hurricane Sandy are changing their minds, and FEMA says
they still have time.
It's been nearly six weeks since Hurricane Sandy, and home owners along the shore have a chance to reconsider a decision they made to refuse aid from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
"December 31st is the deadline for filing for any kind of benefits. It doesn't matter if there's something wrong with your house today, if you think that there might be something later on, if you're not registered with FEMA by the 31st of December, all bets are off come January," said Paul Gardner of FEMA.
If you need to register or if you would like to re-file after refusing assistance, call FEMA at 1–800–621–3362.
