Those missing hockey thanks to the NHL lockout were able to take advantage of Operation Hat Trick in Atlantic city last month. Thursday, organizers of the sold out hockey event announced that they raised $500,000 for victims of Hurricane Sandy.
Caesars Entertainment, which sponsored the November 24th all star hockey event at Boardwalk Hall, presented the check to the New Jersey Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund, Empire Relief Fund and the American Red Cross. Organizers are also auctioning off the jerseys of some of the NHL players who played in the game, the money from that auction is not yet included in the total raised.
A 30 minute special "Operation Hat Trick" is set to air on NBC 40 Saturday December 8th at 7 o'clock.
