SOUTH JERSEY - the Red Cross' presence has now shifted to coordinating more with local agencies for Hurricane Sandy relief.
The American Red Cross has been on the scene of Sandy's destruction since before the storm hit, and its presence has gone through stages.
From preparation before, to response during and immediately after, the relief organization is now entering its recovery stage.
We spoke with Red Cross personnel who say that now their goal is to serve as a referral service, finding out someone's specific needs, and helping to get them met, by connecting them with a local agency.
Salvation Army volunteers in Atlantic City say that the Red Cross has been especially helpful in referring both food and clothing needs to them.
