A 30-year old man is severely wounded after a shooting overnight in Atlantic City. Police responded to the 300 block of North Dr. Martin L. King Jr. Boulevard after shots were fired. Authorities say the individual who called officials heard four to five gunshots near their home.

When police arrived to the scene they found the victim of the shooting inside a small white car parked on the lawn of a residence. The victim was semi-conscious and was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center for surgery after being shot in the chest and groin.

Police say the caller also informed authorities that they saw a black male dressed in all dark clothing running in the area. Officers checked the area for the suspect, but did not find any evidence. The shooting victim, although semi-conscious, was unable to provide information because he went into surgery immediately.

The case remains under investigation and anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the Atlantic City Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit at 609-347-5766.
