Matt Alba joined NBC 40 as a general assignment reporter and photographer in October of 2012.
Matt graduated from Temple University's Annenberg School of Media and Communication with a degree in Broadcasting, Telecommunications, and Mass Media and a minor in business in May of 2012.
While at Temple, Matt began his broadcasting career during a practicum with TU TV - Temple University Programming's first ever talk show, "The Hoot." Matt was one of the founding members who wrote, produced, and appeared on the show. Matt was also a member of the Owls' club lacrosse team during his time at Temple.
In 2012, Matt interned at NBC 10 WCAU-TV in Philadelphia, PA where he worked with reporters, producers, and the web team to manage the Assignment Desk and produce the news in America's 4th largest media market.
Immediately following graduation, Matt was hired as a Production Assistant at NBC 10, where he helped cover various stories such as the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse trial, the 2012 Summer Olympics, and the 2012 Presidential Election, Matt briefly worked as an Assignment Editor during his time at NBC 10 leading up to his departure in September of 2012.
Matt grew up in East Norriton, PA and attended LaSalle College High School, just outside Philadelphia's city limits.
In his spare time, Matt is an avid concertgoer and photographer. Matt is also a die-hard Philadelphia sports fan and enjoys playing basketball on his days off.
Matt is enthusiastic to bring the news to South Jersey as he makes Margate City his new home
