Sandy debris removal top priority for state

ATLANTIC CITY -

Governor Chris Christie says his administration has made the removal of debris leftover from Hurricane Sandy a top priority.

State DEP officials say they are working hard with communities to remove debris to landfills and recycling centers as quickly as possible, so they can begin rebuilding.  Officials estimate that millions of cubic yards of materials still need to be hauled away.

The DEP has approved 100 temporary debris management areas to help ensure a steady flow of debris from communities that were impacted by Hurricane Sandy from Bergen to Atlantic Counties.
