One State Senator is trying to make New Jersey's beaches free this summer.
State Senator Michael Doherty of Somerset County says that he's drafting a law that requires shore communities using federal or state money to rebuild their beaches after Hurricane Sandy to provide free beach access to the public.
Doherty says he considers beach fees an unfair barrier to all citizens from using something they pay to maintain and rebuild.
He said that he is in the process of drafting the legislation and it would also not allow towns to charge for the use of restroom facilities.
