Authorities in Absecon are investigating the death of a man who was struck by a car Monday night, the second fatal pedestrian accident in seven days on the same road.
Police say a 69-year-old Galloway man was walking in the westbound lanes of Route 30 just before 6:00 p.m. when he was struck by a car in front of the Home Depot.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the car, a 27-year-old Egg Harbor City resident, was treated at the scene and taken to a local hospital.
The westbound lanes of Route 30 were shut down for more than two hours while authorities cleared the scene.
On November 12, an unidentified man was struck and killed in the eastbound lane of Route 30 near the Knights Inn Motel.
So far no charges have been filed in that accident.
