It was a bittersweet night for "Twi–hard" fans at the movies Thursday night.
The final chapter of the two–billion dollar Twilight movie series, ‘Breaking Dawn Part 2,' finally made its big screen debut across the country.
And movie theaters here in South Jersey were also packed with fans, who all seemed to be living in the "Twilight" zone.
Twilight fan Krystal Wells told NBC 40, "I'm heartbroken! I didn't want to come. I was crying in the car like, ‘No it's the last one!'"
"I mean we've all been waiting years for the last one to come out," said Jessica Dyrek, another huge fan of the series.
Although it may be sad for these fans, they knew it had to come to an end sooner or later.
Most of the people we talked to say the reason they needed to see the movie first, was because of the Twilight books they read before the premiere, and the connection they felt with the actors who portray them in the movies.
Danielle Farmer elaborated, "You just don't want to wait. You've read the books and you love the characters and you love the storyline. You want to see your fantasy and what you picture in your head played on screen."
David Harrell also went on to say, "The human emotion it's a crazy world, but it's a story that's based on what everybody in this world knows – its based on love."
Fans of all ages were in attendance at the Thursday night showing.
One twilight fan even brought her 9 month old son to see the premiere. His mother told NBC 40 it was the first movie he has ever seen in theaters. The mother's friend, Krystal Wells, told us, "He liked it! He clapped through half of it."
Many men also attended the premiere. NBC 40 spoke with husbands, boyfriends, and groups of teenagers who all told us they have been fans of the series since .
David Harrell explained, "It's like a bonding experience with all the other people in there. Some lady was in there since like 12 o'clock. She watched the whole marathon. We bond over this one thing - it's what brings us together."
Based on last night's turnout, 'Twilight Breaking Dawn part 2' could be the highest grossing of all five of the movies in the Twilight series.
