A 44 year-old Lower Township man has been arrested after a 9-hour standoff Wednesday night.

It happened on the 100 block of Willow Drive in North Cape May.  Lower Township Police responded to the home around 6:30 Wednesday night to check on the well being of the man inside, identified as Edward Cerwonka of North Cape May.

When police arrived, Cerwonka threatened to shoot the first responders.  Authorities attempted for 9-hours to get Cerwonka to peacefully surrender, which he finally did around 3 a.m.

He was immediately transported to the hospital for a non life threatening wound.

The Cape May County Prosecutor's Office announced Thursday that Cerwonka has been charged with making terroristic threats, and could face up to 5 years in state prison.
