While most young kids watched cartoons on Saturday mornings, Adam Rutt watched The Weather Channel and read the local forecasts out loud. This would turn out to be the beginning of his love and fascination of weather.
Born and raised in Pennsylvania's Slate Belt region, Adam's earliest memories of big weather events revolved around a common theme: winter storms. Living just on the fringe of the Pocono Mountains, winter was a highly anticipated season, as snow storms usually also meant no school for the kids. Growing up, he wrote about meteorology for school assignments and shadowed local meteorologists in high school to gain more insight on what would become his future career choice.
Adam received his Bachelor's degree in Meteorology at Lyndon State College in Lyndonville, VT. During his college career, he gained experience as an on-air meteorologist through the college's news station, which was broadcast throughout the Northeast Kingdom. In the summer of 2009, Adam interned at WMGM, where he received further instruction and advice from NBC40's own Dan Skeldon! In his spare time, Adam loves to go for walks and jogs with his girlfriend, and he is excited to be able to do so at the beach now that they live to Cape May. When winter rolls around, he puts his running shoes away and gets his skis ready for the slopes. He is also an avid Phillies fan and likes to cook his own meals that he can enjoy during the games. Adam looks forward to sharing his passion for weather, and you can watch for his forecasts every Saturday and Sunday at 11pm on WMGM.
