MT. HOLLY--State police say a woman suffering from Alzheimer's disease died in a fiery, three-vehicle crash on the New
Jersey Turnpike. Sgt. Stephen Jones says Ellen Liedtka slowed or stopped her car in the left lane near exit 5 in Mt. Holly on Tuesday morning. Jones says the 67-year-old's vehicle was struck from behind by another, which pushed it into the center lane where it was hit by a tractor-trailer. The truck knocked the car into the median divider, where it burst into flames. State troopers were unable to douse the flames with fire extinguishers. Jones says Liedtka had been reported missing from her Hamilton Township home on Monday afternoon. No one else was injured. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
