MILLVILLE -- A woman was hospitalized Friday after police say she was hit by a car in Millville; however, police are investigating another woman for possibly issuing a false police report in the same incident.

Authorities tell NBC 40 that Helen Barrick, 83, of Bridgeton, was struck by a car driven by 28-year-old Dana Williams of Millville just after 10 a.m. in the area of E. Main Street and High Street. Barrick was taken to the hospital, but her condition remains unknown at this time.

Meanwhile, authorities are investigating whether or not 42-year-old Rebecca Thomas was actually struck by the car. Police say Thomas may have laid down in front of the vehicle and exaggerated her injuries after the incident. Now, she is being investigated for a false police report.

Authorities say Williams was ticketed for failure to yield to pedestrians.
