WOMAN ARRESTED FOR PROSTITUTION AFTER SOLICITING UNDERCOVER OFFICER
Tricia Dunckley ( tdunckley@nbc40.net) - 2/2/12 08:35 pm
VINELAND - Authorities say a woman experiencing financial issues engaged in prostitution and dog breeding to make an income.
Police arrested Babette Massaro, 60, of Vineland on charges of prostitution after trying to solicit an undercover officer.
The investigation began during the month of January when Vineland police received information that a female was possibly conducting prostitution from a home on the 3700 block of Connelly Drive.
Surveillance was conducted in the area and a male observed coming from the residence was stopped and questioned. He admitted to going to the residence in order to engage in prostitution.
Authorities say Massaro was advertising her services through the Atlantic City Weekly newspaper in the classified personals column for years.
An undercover operation was initiated with a Vineland detective contacting Massaro through the advertisement. An appointment was set for the purpose of exchanging sex for money. Massaro was then placed under arrested after soliciting the officer for several hundred dollars.
Further investigation revealed Massaro was breeding and selling Yorkie dogs as another supplemental source of income. She advised officers that she had been committing prostitution and raising dogs due to financial issues.
Massaro was released on a summons complaint and allegedly acted alone.
