A.C. BOAT SHOW UNDERWAY IN ATLANTIC CITY
(Return to Video Menu - View Full)
ATLANTIC CITY- All were aboard the Atlantic City Convention Center, as thousands of people piled into check out the latest boats and yachts that the Atlantic City Boat Show has to offer.
"It's the progressive Atlantic city boat show. We obviously have the latest and greatest in marine accessories and electronic but boats, people are here to see the boats" says John Pritko, Manager, Atlantic City Boat Show.
"It brings people down for the weekend and to have fun, there is all kinds of educational things for them to be involved with and things for even kids to do" says Bill Mudgett, Waterfront Marine, Somers Point.
The event features attractions from all over the country, providing boats that range from a couple hundred dollar kayaks, to the "Cabo", one of the biggest boats of the show at 44 feet long and 1.2. million dollars.
"Were real big on showing people how boating is affordable, educating people on how to get into boating and mainly showing them how to choose the boat that is right for them" says Pritko.
And while buying hasn't been on boater's minds in recent years, officials say this year is different due to the improving economy.
"Were seeing an upturn, the show is 25 percent larger this year and anywhere from 25 to 30 percent more boats as well" says Pritko.
"Were coming here to buy a new boat, and seeing all the new stuff out here, we have a little boat and want a bigger one now so hopefully we find something" says Kristie McMullen, tourist.
It's not only boats and yachts here at the show, but they have other activities such as scuba diving, giving people the opportunity to take a dive in the pool and try it out first hand.
"You buy a boat and you have to have something to do whether it is water-skiing, jet skiing or tubing, but how about scuba diving, some great diving right in the ocean" says David Reidenbach, Diving Equipment & Marketing Assn
The 5-day event is encouraging anyone who is interested in the show to come check it out, before it sets sail on Sunday.
