CASTING FOR RECOVERY BREAST CANCER RETREAT
(Return to Video Menu - View Full)
OCEAN CITY - A weekend retreat gathered hundreds of strong women who overcame a life changing hurtle, breast cancer.
Casting for Recovery, a national non-profit support and educational program for women who have or have had breast cancer held a 3 day retreat this weekend in Ocean City.
The curriculum incorporated the elements of fly-fishing to promote physical and mental healing.
Fly-fishing provides stress-relief and a sense of calm, while the ladies get a chance to bond with one another by sharing their stories.
Breast Cancer survivor Kathy Rozanski says, "It helps us realize that were not alone and that there are other people who walked in our steps and that together were going to fight this till the end and find a cure."
Since 1996 CFR has served nearly 5,000 breast cancer survivors nationwide.
In 2010, 41 retreats in 30 states served over 550 survivors.
