POSTAL WORKERS RALLY IN MAYS LANDING

MAYS LANDING -- Postal workers across the country and right here in South Jersey held rallies Tuesday trying to draw attention to legislation that they believe will solve the U.S. Postal Service's financial problems.
Postal Carrier Union members gathered in front of Congressman Frank LoBiondo's Mays Landing office Tuesday afternoon, to rally support for HR 1351, legislation co-sponsored by LoBiondo, which he believes would put the postal service on the right financial track without a taxpayer bailout or reducing services to its customers, such as eliminating six day delivery.
Protesters say it's all about jobs.
"The current footing the postal service is on, they stand to lose between 50 and 100 thousand jobs if Congress doesn't do something. We need Congress to act," said Mike Swain, State Steward, NJ Rural Letter Carriers.
The Mays Landing rally was one of 400 similar ones across the country, 13 in New Jersey alone.
