ATLANTIC CITY -- Lightning strikes the tallest building in Atlantic City, killing one and injuring another. It's a freak occurrence that has rattled those on the scene, and many others in the community.

It was a frantic scene in Atlantic City Thursday afternoon at the Revel casino site as emergency responders rushed to the aid of construction workers who were struck by lightning. Authorities say two, possibly three workers, were struck just before 4:00 in the afternoon, when a bolt hit a basket used to carry concrete, which was right next to them.

Workers on the site couldn't believe their eyes as crews performed CPR in an attempt to save the life of one man who was found unconscious. Despite those efforts, authorities say Bryan Bradley, 40, of Linwood, a concrete worker, later died of his injuries at the hospital. The other injured man, Joseph Forcinito, 55, of Millville, also a concrete finisher who worked for the sub-contractor on the project, was also taken to the hospital after suffering burns to his hands, according to sources, who say he should be OK.

Many working on the site were initially unaware about what had happened. "Really can't hear too much in there," said Kevin Malinowksi, an electrician who was working on the 5th floor at the time, "thunder - I didn't really hear too much, lightning,- didn't really see too much, just seen buckets of water coming down through parts of the roof."

"It was a severe thunderstorm, as you all know," said Tom Foley, the director of Emergency Management for the city.

Those there at the time say the storm came in strong and quick, and left just as fast, although the damage done, clearly remains. In a statement from Revel Entertainment, they say "they extend their deepest condolences to the injured men and their families."

Unfortunately, the Revel project is no stranger to tragedy or problems. In 2008, several of their top executives were killed in a plane crash. 18 months ago, a crane collapsed there during high winds, injuring a police officer, and sources tell us, this incident happened on the same floor as that crane collapse.

Revel officials say a third worker was struck, but sources say he wasn't injured badly and refused treatment on the scene.

While Atlantic City police initially responded, they say OSHA is now handling the investigation.

It's unknown if work will continue at the site Friday, although officials say no structural damage was done to the building.
