AVIATION OFFICIALS DISCUSS AIR TRAFFIC SAFETY

ATLANTIC CITY---Today the FAA demonstrated how committed it is to safety and NextGen capabilities and technologies.

According to the FAA Deputy Administrator, NextGen technologies is already transforming aviation from a ground based system of air traffic control to a satellite system, where air traffic controllers will have more automated tools to help make decisions and handle more traffic safety.

Michael Huerta, the FAA Deputy Administrator said, "We've done a lot of work right at the tech center in Atlantic City to really test and evaluate these new approaches and we have them deployed in many parts of the country, the Gulf of Mexico, around Philadelphia and around Alaska."

The Air Traffic Control Association technical symposium and showcase will wrap up Thursday.
