EAGLE ACADEMY SPORTS TALK RADIO SHOW CELEBRATES ANNIVERSARY
(Return to Video Menu - View Full)
EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP - It was a special day for students at Eagle Academy in Egg Harbor Township as the student led "Hunter and the Coach" radio show celebrated its 3rd anniversary.
The show, which airs Friday mornings, allows students to discuss and cover sports while taking calls from their listeners.
"I love sports its sort of like a second religion for me," said Senior at Eagle Academy and Co-Host of "Hunter and the Coach" Hunter Grace.
While the students are getting to do what they love, the teachers said the show goes beyond just sports talk.
"These are students who are at risk, who most of time don't participate fully in school and in classes, this provides them with a very innovative, highly motivating way of learning," said Bob Zentmeyer, the Director of Eagle Academy.
Pete Collesano, Physical Education and Health teacher and Co-Host of the show said before the show started 3 years ago, he and Grace would talk about sports every morning. He said doing the show every Friday is a welcomed experience.
"It's work but it's the kind of work we enjoy, so when your doing it, it doesn't actually seem like work, we've always been told do what you love," said Collesano.
When the show began it was a half-hour long show, but it now runs from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday mornings.
