CONTRACT DISPUTE LEADS TO POWER SHUTDOWN AT RESORTS CASINO FRIDAY

ATLANTIC CITY -- A contract dispute led to a brief power shutdown at one Atlantic City casino Friday.

Friday afternoon, Marina Energy, a subsidiary of South Jersey Industries, shut down heating and cooling services for two hours at Resorts International over a bill of more than $500,000 that was never paid by the casino's previous owners, RAC Atlantic Holdings L.L.C.

In December 2010, the casino was taken over by Dennis Gomes and New York real estate developer Morris Bailey, and Friday Gomes said there is no chance of another shutdown by Marina Energy because of a balance that another company owes them.

A Resorts spokesperson added that no services or events were compromised by the shutdown, which was reversed, after a restraining order was filed by the casino.
