COATS FOR KIDS PROGRAM WARMS SOULS AND BODIES

MILLVILLE--With this burst of cold air, the Coats for Kids giveaway in Millville couldn't have come at a better time. More than 500 kids picked out new winter wear today they otherwise wouldn't have.
"What do you think? You wanna try it on?" From too big to too small, to eventually finding the one that's just right- there was a lot of trying on at the New Jersey Motorsports Park today, where kids were racing around to find new winter wear.
It's the third annual Coats for Kids program, and more than 500 students from 19 schools in Cumberland County got to pick out a brand new coat, hat, gloves and scarf thanks to the park and the Green Flag Children's Charities. "It's the spirit of the holidays, the spirit of children of need," said Donald Fauerbach with the park, "these kids weren't gonna get a new coat, if they didn't here."
"I think it's a tremendous blessing for people who really can't afford coats," said Michelle Powell, "it's awesome, awesome." It's something that will really help her and her children this year, who couldn't wait to pick out a new coat.
"I want a pink coat," said her daughter Charlene Faison, "but it doesn't matter, whatever they give me, I'm blessed to have any coat."
"I'm grateful," said Powell, "I'm grateful, anything they would be able to give but, I'm totally grateful."
All of the coats were donated, some by members of the community and half by Subaru and WalMart, who pitched in to make sure every child walked away today with a nice, quality coat. "It's phenomenal the way they love every coat that they get," said Lenny Klim, a volunteer at the event. While he helped the kids pick out their coats, he says he too is walking away today with something special. "It's the Christmas spirit, isn't it" he said, "I guess this is really what it's all about."
