ATLANTIC CITY-- A shooting in broad daylight in the 1300 block of Caspian Ave. in Atlantic City left a man and woman dead.

Just before 6 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to the Carver Hall Apartment Complex for an apparent shooting. A man and a woman were sitting on a porch in the 1300 block of Caspian Avenue at around 5:45 p.m. when the shooting started.
The female victim, identified as 28 year old Brigantine Boulevard resident Jan Lynette Williams, was deceased when police arrived. The male victim, 25 year old Atlantic City resident Marlon Thigpen, was transported from the scene, but was later pronounced dead at Atlanticare Regional Medical Center.
Dozens of concerned residents gathered behind the police tape after the shootings.

One woman NBC40 talked to lives in the neighboring building and says she didn't hear any of the multiple shots fired.

"I was sitting in my living room, on the sofa, looking at television and off and on reading this book. I didn't hear anything. I was talking on the plane to my granddaughter and I got up, and I seen all these police cars out here," she said.

The woman declined to give her name, but said she is worried about what's happening to the community.

"It is frustrating. It's terrible. It's getting to the point that you aren't even safe out here on the streets," she said.

The brazen shooting occurred in broad daylight, but none of these local residents could give any further information. Police blocked off Caspian Avenue, north of North Tennessee Avenue, and placed orange markers at evidence sites, as a medical stretcher sat unoccupied in front of the complex. The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office has released a statement, but is still currently unable to give a description of the shooting suspect, or suspects.

The major crimes unit of the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office is investigating the shooting along with the assistance of the Atlantic City Police Department. Anyone with information is asked to call the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office at 609-909-7800.
