OCEAN CITY-- Officials are still warning beach-goers about the strong rip currents, especially this busy Labor Day weekend.
The beaches were closed to swimmers in Ocean City today, but even if they reopen tomorrow, lifeguards say conditions will appear calm, but that is not necessarily the case. In fact, with these rough currents and high tides, ankle-deep can become waist-deep in a hurry. "Even as this passes tomorrow, even as it calms down, the one thing to remember is the rips. All that bottom and those holes are still going to exist and all that water is still going to be rushing out," said Ocean City Beach Patrol Lieutenant Paul Gallagher. O.C.B.P. officials will decide tomorrow whether or not the beaches will be open for bathing. |
