NORTHFIELD - The Northfield Police Department responded to the intersection of New Road and Cedar Bridge Road for a reported motor vehicle crash with injuries at 10:43 a.m. Tuesday.

Upon arrival at scene investigation revealed that a south bound vehicle operated by Arthur Grimmie Jr., 57, Egg Harbor Township was stopped preparing to make a left turn onto Cedar Bridge Road when he was struck in the right rear by a southbound vehicle operated by Sean Mack, 35, of Galloway as Mack attempted to pass on the right shoulder of the roadway. Mack then continued south, striking a traffic light stanchion located at the southwest corner of Cedar Bridge Road and New Road.

The crash severed the traffic light from its base and came to rest on the roof of Mack's vehicle. Mack was transported to Atlanticare Medical Center for injuries sustained.

Traffic was rerouted with the assistance of the New Jersey Department of Highway Transportation for several hours while the traffic light was replaced.
