STOCKTON FRESHMAN MOVE IN DAY

POMONA- Richard Stockton College welcomed their incoming freshman class Wednesday, and helped as they began moving into their dorm rooms.
With carts loaded to the brim, and for many, family by their side, Stockton's freshman class of 2014 moved into what will be their new home for the next four years.
And for identical twin sisters, Allison and Alexis Cibenko, deciding to enroll in Stockton was easy since their sister Kaitlin goes there as well. "We used to come all the time last year and just loved it," Allison Cibenko explained.
And Kaitlin, now a sophomore and resident assistant, says she wouldn't have it any other way. "We are best friends and I can't imagine them not being with me."
For their parents, continuing the family tradition was important- but not as important as choosing what they consider the best education. "As parents, we're very comfortable with the setup and education that my sophomore has received and how she's taken advantage of what the school has to offer…it was a natural fitting for the girls," said Thomas Cibenko.
And Ginny Cibenko points out the money they are saving by going to school in state. "It would be exorbitantly expensive for them to go out of state…Stockton has great program, flat fee up to 20 credits for same price, really they have a lot going for it."
And that may be why so many students are choosing Stockton.
School officials say last years freshman class of 870 was the largest group they've ever had enroll, and this year they are just a few students away from making that same goal. "Oh, they're wonderful numbers, especially for Stockton because right now we're in what we consider to be controlled growth. We want to make sure we keep quality up, but yet that we're able to provide services and support to our students that we need," said John Iacovelli, Stockton's Dean of Enrollment.
Like the other freshman, the Cibenko twins are ready to start the next chapter in their lives away from home, making it a bittersweet goodbye for their parents. "As much as it's going to be nice and quiet, I'm going to really miss them," Ginny Cibenko said.
The freshman will have a little while longer to get settled in before returning students move in and classes begin September 7th.
Stockton's Dean of Enrollment adds that the number of transfer students is up 4 to 5 percent from the same time last year.
