CLERMONT-- Artists of all ages got their creative juices flowing to create pottery for a good cause. Each unique piece is joining the fight against hunger.

"It starts out as an empty pallet for everyone to get their creativity out," said Julie Hickman an Organizer with The Madd Potters' Studio.

The artists at the Woodland Village Shops let their imaginations run wild today. They created designs of all shapes and sizes using whatever they could find. Whether it was a traditional pottery tool or a scallop shell. "I want to do it with the seashells all around," said Morgan McBride from Philadelphia.

"It doesn't matter what they pick up, how they design it there's a piece of them that goes into it," said Hickman. So sculptors of all ages and experience levels crafted fun, clay creations. "Everyone is an artist in their own way," said Amanda Leipert an Organizer with The Madd Potters' Studio.

However, there was a mission in mind. The artists were able to both do what they love and benefit a great cause at the same time. "We're making bowls for our empty bowl soup-sampling event," said Leipert.

The Madd Potters' Studio is joining the fight against hunger and lending a hand to the Empty Bowls Project. For $8.00 anyone could mold a bowl that will be used on October 16, World Food Day, during a special food-sampling event. "We're going to have area restaurants up around the village we're going to have all these empty bowls donated," said Leipert. She added, "They can choose a bowl to keep as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world."

With at least a $10.00 donation, the guests receive a bowl and soup. All proceeds will go to the Community Food Bank of South Jersey and the international Imagine Render Group. Organizers are aiming to have 500 donated bowls and 12-15 pots of soup for the event.

"We have a long way to go we need a lot more people to come out," said Leipert. They are urging everyone to come together, have some fun and get a little creative to help others. "We just want to show that a little bit of effort can make a great impact," said Leipert.

The Madd Potters' Studio will hold another workshop next Sunday from 11:00 -1:00 p.m. For more information you can call (609) 849-0932.
