ATLANTIC CITY-- Crowds lined up early at The Walk on Michigan Avenue. Many tried to grab a front row seat for the annual Christmas Parade.
“It's a fun time for the kids to watch a parade and see Santa Clause,” said Michael Ring of Absecon. This is the second year Michael Ring and his family attended the holiday event. “It's a great time for the city. Its something besides seeing the casinos and have some family attractions to go to,” said Ring. The family friendly atmosphere included some holiday music performed by the Atlantic City High School Marching Band and the Pleasantville High Marching Greyhounds. Atlantic City officials also worked their way down the parade route. All the floats had their own unique holiday flavor. “Well my boys love a parade, so anytime when we can get out and enjoy a parade we're here,” said Steve Atczak of Northfield. Ebon Walker and his family did a little traveling to catch the afternoon event. “We just noticed there was a parade going on today, here, and we decided to take the train down and get the experience,” said Ebon Walker of Maple Shade. Walker says that his family enjoys getting into the holiday spirit and attending festive events like this one. “We always have something to do every holiday year. So this is something that is very special for our family and we just kind of look forward to new things that come out,” said Walker. “Its great to get out to the parade because the kids love it and get excited,” said Atczak. After today’s parade the Christmas tree at The Walk was lit during a short ceremony. There was also a toy give-away by the Atlantic County Toys for Kids Program. |
