BRIGANTINE - The Marine Mammal Stranding Center is now caring for a young pygmy sperm whale that washed up on the beach in Atlantic City today.


The whale, which is now recovering at the center in Brigantine, was spotted around 6 thirty this morning on the South Carolina Avenue beach.


Bob Schoelkopf, Director of the MMSC, says the species is known for having cardiac problems, which often leads to strandings.


A cardiologist has been called in to monitor the whale for further treatment.
